Minaret is beyond honored to present a rare Los Angeles appearance by legendary Brazilian guitarist and composer Toninho Horta on Tuesday, March 10th.
A foundational voice of Brazilian music and a pioneer of the Clube de Esquina movement that emerged from Minas Gerais in the 1970s, Horta helped define a harmonic language that reshaped MPB and continues to influence generations of jazz musicians worldwide.
For the first time in decades, he returns for an intimate evening with friends at Lodge Room in Highland Park, featuring appearances from luminaries Pedro Martins, Henry Solomon, and more.

We’re throwing a Piano Party at the pristine-sounding Healing Force of the Universe in Pasadena, CA, featuring a sequence of ~15-minute solo performances from Luca Mendoza, Qur’an Shaheed, Vardan Ovsepian, Telemakus, Christina Galisatus, & Brian Hargrove on a 1908 Mason & Hamlin Baby Grand.
This is the inaugural in a series of summits we’ll host in LA throughout the year, designed to celebrate our favorite composers/improvisers and spotlight the range of voices on each instrument. As the landscape for live music evolves in our beautiful city, we are going to experiment with more ambitious & conceptual programming. Hope to see you there!
